Austin, Texas – United States – /LaGuardia Media PR Presswire/- – In the wake of the passage of Texas SB 3 and Texas HB 28 residents of Texas cities all over the state, of all ages and from all walks of life have been voicing their disapproval of the bill.

Citing the villainization of an entire industry and its consumers and its unintended consequences for those in the industry, (business owners and employees alike), many have taken to organizing petitions and sending handwritten letters to Governor Greg Abbott to veto the new legislation. The most conservative estimates report 100,000 individuals have sent in letters and/or petitions to the governor’s office.

Several organizations have also mobilized efforts to get Gov. Abbott to veto SB3, including the Texas Hemp Business Council, who is believed to have been personally responsible for delivering 5,000 letters and a petition with 120,000 signatures calling for a veto. Along with state-wide organizations like Texas Hemp Business Council and the Texas Cannabis Policy Center, business owners in the state’s capital are also doing their part to bring about a veto of this legislation.

Establishments like Trippiez Smoke Shop in Austin, Texas who has 5 locations throughout the capital city, are making it easy for their customers to be heard by providing petitions for them to sign right at the counter, if they so choose. On the Trippiez Instagram page, they display talking points from the Texas Hemp Business Council for those who want to call the governor to urge him to veto the bill, indicating a strong push on social media and a cohesive effort by businesses and organizations to “kill the bill.”
