The altercation occurred on Wood Hollow Drive in Austin, where a disturbance erupted between Beriji and Talbott regarding a debt owed by Talbott to Beriji. Eyewitnesses reported that the two men had been using drugs prior to the confrontation, which lasted approximately one and a half hours. During the argument, witnesses indicated that Talbott posed no immediate threat, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.

Numerous eyewitnesses have identified Beriji as the shooter. The alleged standoff between the two men reportedly lasted between 20 to 30 seconds before Beriji fired a handgun, striking Talbott in the head. Immediately following the shooting, a witness attempted to apply pressure to stop Talbott’s bleeding while others called 911 for assistance. Emergency responders transported Talbott to Dell Seton Hospital shortly after midnight on May 29, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Following the shooting, Beriji was taken into custody and booked into the Travis County Jail around 3 p.m. on May 29. He remained incarcerated as of noon on June 2, 2025. This incident marks the 26th homicide in Austin for the year 2025, raising concerns about rising violent crimes in the area and prompting further investigations.
