News Summary

The upcoming benefit concert ‘Band Together Texas’ will be held at the Moody Center to support flood relief efforts in the Texas Hill Country. Featuring headliners like Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum, alongside numerous other entertainers, the concert aims to raise $1 million for recovery initiatives following devastating floods. With special appearances from notable Texas personalities and community volunteers stepping in to help, this event showcases the resilience and solidarity of the Austin community during challenging times.

Austin, Texas – A benefit concert titled “Band Together Texas” is set to take place at the Moody Center on July 25, 2023, featuring country music stars Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum as headliners. The concert aims to raise funds for flood relief efforts following the severe flooding that impacted the Texas Hill Country over the July 4 weekend, resulting in 135 confirmed deaths and numerous individuals still unaccounted for.

The lineup for the concert includes a variety of renowned entertainers, such as Kelly Clarkson, Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lyle Lovett, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Jack Ingram, Jon Randall, Ryan Bingham, Lukas Nelson, and Dylan Gossett. Special appearances will feature notable Texas personalities, including actors Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid, former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, former Longhorn football coach Mack Brown, and former Texas football players Colt McCoy, Vince Young, and Emmanuel Acho. Additionally, television host Chris Harrison will make an appearance.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and the Central Texas Community Foundation, both of which are focused on facilitating recovery efforts in the flood-affected areas. In response to the flooding, Travis County has established the Travis County Cares fund, designed to provide short-term assistance to residents in northwest Travis County, particularly in regions along Sandy Creek and Cow Creek. The fund is conducted in collaboration with the Central Texas Community Foundation to ensure timely distribution of aid.

Presale tickets for the concert will be available from July 23 at 10 a.m. to July 24 at 10 p.m. General public ticket sales will begin on July 25 at 10 a.m. Donations are currently being accepted for the Travis County Cares fund, with an ambitious goal of raising $1,000,000 over the next 31 days to support those affected by the floods.

During the devastating flood event, President Trump issued a Major Disaster Declaration, expanding FEMA assistance to include 10 Texas counties. Currently, FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program has been approved for Travis and Williamson counties, allowing affected residents to apply for aid online. However, the impacts of the flood continue to be felt throughout the region, with many community members stepping up to assist with cleanup efforts.

Immediate volunteer operations have been organized by local community members, which have quickly mobilized to help those in need. A new volunteer reception center has been opened at Plain Elementary School in Leander to coordinate volunteer efforts and facilitate assistance to flood victims.

This concert represents not only a means of raising much-needed funds for flood relief but also serves as a rallying point for the community to come together and support one another during this challenging time. The cooperation and effort from both residents and local organizations underscore the resilience of the Austin community as it works towards recovery and healing.
