Professionally, Shirley spent part of her career as a typist at Woods Typing Service and later worked in the church office at Faith Lutheran Church in Austin. The majority of her career was spent at the Internal Revenue Service, where she eventually retired.
A Passion for Music
Shirley was deeply involved in music throughout her life. She was an active member of church choirs, having sung at Faith Lutheran Church and Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin. Upon relocating to Dripping Springs, she continued to share her love for music as a choir member at New Life Lutheran Church, where she and John were foundational members. Her contributions to local music extended to her participation in the Wimberley Chorus, where she performed in multiple concerts each year.

In her retirement, Shirley was a regular at the Hill Country Senior Center in Dripping Springs. There, she enjoyed spending time with friends, volunteering, and playing bingo.
