Austin Mobilizes for Flood Relief in Texas Hill Country

In response to severe flooding that struck Texas Hill Country, the Austin restaurant community is joining forces to fundraise and provide support for affected residents. Various local eateries are contributing portions of their profits to multiple flood relief organizations and are organizing donation drives for essential goods.

Among the initiatives, 7 Brew has announced that on July 11, all Texas locations will donate 100% of their profits to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and Central Texas Community Foundation. Another Broken Egg will contribute 15% of sales from all three Austin locations to the same fund on the same day.

Several other establishments are also stepping up. ATX Cocina plans to donate 100% of its sales on July 13 to flood relief efforts, while BOA Steakhouse will contribute 25% of all sales to Mercy Chefs on the same day. Other notable contributions include Bouldin Acres, which is matching all donations made to their establishment up to $5,000, and serving as a drop-off location for essential items.

Buffered by the community spirit, several locations, such as Bufalina and Bufalina Due, have initiated their donation campaigns as early as July 7, pledging all profits from margherita pizzas to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, and will continue to donate $1 from each glass of house wine sold during happy hour for the remainder of the month.

Other participating eateries include Central Machine Works donating $1 from every pretzel and frozen cocktail sold on July 12 and 13 to the Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country. Clark’s Oyster Bar also committed to donating 15% of sales on July 12 to the Kerr County Relief Fund. Businesses are varying their donation methods, with Codependent donating $2 from cocktails made with specific tequilas to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.

Wide-ranging Participation from Local Restaurants

As restaurants rally together for a common cause, many have specified unique ways to contribute. For example, Curra’s at both locations will donate 10% of sales during the campaign. Din Ho, on July 12, will give a portion of sales to World Central Kitchen and donate all T-shirt sales. Furthermore, Garbo’s is donating proceeds from peach pie sales through July 13 to the Kerr County Relief Fund.

Participation extends throughout the week, with several establishments like Jacoby’s and Jeffrey’s pledging contributions on July 12, and Loro offering diners an opportunity to round up their bills to benefit Mercy Chefs. Other restaurants, like Taqueria De Diaz and TenTen, are joining the effort with donations slated for later in July.

Community Support and Aid

In addition to participating restaurants, community organizations and businesses are getting involved. Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. is collecting donations for displaced animals while locations like Frazier’s and Royal Blue Grocery are serving as drop-off points for vital supplies such as non-perishable food and cleaning materials.

Large corporations are also contributing to the flood relief efforts. Companies such as Dell Technologies, AT&T, and NFL teams have reportedly donated significant sums. Furthermore, Kendra Scott and James Avery are donating proceeds from specific products to support ongoing relief efforts. The combined actions demonstrate a strong community effort to aid those in need following the devastating floods.

The flooding has significantly disrupted lives in the Texas Hill Country, leading to the need for immediate relief and support. The collective actions of the Austin restaurant community and local businesses illustrate the power of solidarity in times of crisis, demonstrating how a community can come together to provide vital assistance to its members.
