As the floodwaters surrounded their home, the Eliashar family sought refuge in a nearby pickup truck. Crowder, who had also been swept away by the floodwaters during his rescue attempt and sustained injuries, eventually helped the family reach safety as police transported them to higher ground.

Upon returning to their residence, Chrissy Eliashar discovered that her home had been completely destroyed, washed off its foundation and buried in mud. In the wake of this disaster, the community has come together to support the family, leading to the establishment of a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $36,000 for the Eliashars to assist in their recovery and rebuilding efforts.
