AUSTIN — Serenity Mental Health Centers, a leader in innovative psychiatric care and one of the fastest-growing mental health providers in the nation, today announced the addition of two new providers to its Austin treatment clinic.
Dr. Ryan Jones completed his completed his medical degree at the University of Nebraska and his psychiatry residency at the University of South Dakota. He began his clinical career as a moonlighting psychiatrist at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he provided acute psychiatric care in a fast-paced hospital setting. In late 2024, Dr. Jones broadened his global clinical experience by serving as a team lead psychiatrist in New Zealand, where he collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality mental health care in a diverse population.
Joseph Houchins, PNP, earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Columbia University, after earning undergraduate and master’s psychology degrees from Trinity University and Boston University. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of treatment modalities, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and other innovative treatment approaches. Earlier in his career, he contributed to psychiatric research at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, focusing on complex areas such as addiction, trauma, PTSD, and acceptance-based therapies for veterans.

The Austin clinic, which opened in February of this year, provides advanced psychiatric services, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy, ketamine therapy and medication management tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs. The clinic is currently staffed by Jeffrey Twiss, NP, and plans to welcome another PNP in September.
