It may seem counter-intuitive, but one smoke shop owner is doing his part to help people to STOP smoking.
Austin, Texas – United States – /LaGuardia Media PR Presswire/- – According to the CDC, over 400,000 deaths are directly linked to smoking in the United States each year. Doing his part to assist with efforts to quell the harmful effects of smoking, one smoke shop owner offers alternative products to his customers.
“I think it is important that we offer solutions for those customers who really want to quit (smoking), but don’t know where to start”, explains Ahmad Alnajjar, owner of Trippiez Smoke Shop in Austin, Texas. “Also, we have a responsibility to each other as neighbors. We must look out for each other. Of course, I see how it would affect my business if people stop smoking altogether, but it’s about people over profit, not the other way around.”
The smoking cessation products that are offered by Trippiez Smoke Shop are not typical alternatives such as vapes or chewing tobacco. These products have zero nicotine, and some even have no “smoke” (meaning vapors) at all.
The zero-nicotine devices are popular, as they satisfy the oral fixation that is common among smokers, while still allowing users to blow thick, flavored clouds of nicotine-free vapor.
FUM devices (pronounced Fume) are small wooden or metal devices that allow users to draw only essential oils or flavoring, no vapor or smoke. They satisfy the oral fixation and muscle memory of smoking, but contain inside a cotton swab soaked in mint likening itself to a menthol cigarette. Users get the sensation of smoking without any of the harmful effects with these devices.
Also, there are CBD disposables that do produce a vapor, but contain no nicotine. Trippiez used to offer other alternatives such as melatonin and caffeine vapes, but these proved to be unpopular. According to one Trippiez employee, people “weren’t too keen on vaping caffeine.”
